It all started when I saw this nice copy of the Parker Mojo Fly on eBay for $119.
I was just hoping for a nice piece of wood in the right shape, but I got lucky: The maple neck was straight and the frets, although not stainless steel like a real Mojo, were pretty nice.
Once I saw the “gold” hardware, though, I knew it would all have to come off: Tuners, bridge, pickups-- everything. Although new, they had a crummy finish, and the Floyd Rose knockoff was the worst I’d ever seen.
I got lucky and found a pair of authentic Parker pickups, with wiring and knobs, on eBay for $40. I purchased a decent black FR bridge, some new tuners, etc. and brought the project to my guitar tech to finish the job.
He wired the pickups for double coil-tap (pull out knobs) and we put the extra hole the knockoff maker drilled to good use by installing a phase switch.
